The following is a list of possible uses for the USB FAD. It simply provides some suggestions, it may be used for something not listed here. This list is designed to give suggestions and not be a complete listing of all possible uses.
Many advertisers use CDs to send information about their products. USB memory devices are becoming more and more popular and are being used more than CDs. Advertisers could buy USB keys in bulk from a 3rd party, and use the USB FAD to deploy their advertisements to the keys. These keys are reusable and many of their target audience might appreciate the “reusable gift” instead of a CD which is not reusable.
Quality assurance personnel / Manufacturers of USB memory devices:
Some USB manufacturers offer services when they sell USB Devices. Many allow you to order the devices with information pre-loaded onto it. Also, many may want to add advertising to the devices, or simply make sure the devices are fully formatted (empty) before they reach consumers. The USB FAD can do all this. It can deploy files to the device before the manufacturer sends them out, or it can wipe them clean so the USB devices are blank when they go out.
Schools / Universities / Colleges:
Many schools have handouts, information, assignments etc. to give to students. These handouts are usually in paper format. This becomes very wasteful when you consider how much paper is used each year by students and teachers. Instead, teachers could deploy their lessons and handouts to USB memory devices. These devices would be distributed to the students instead of paper handouts. Teachers would save time by formatting the devices 16 at a time. When a lesson was done and the students did not need that information anymore or once they had downloaded it onto their computers, the teachers could collect the USB devices and reformat them, reusing the same USB devices throughout the year. This could also be used for assignments, tests, projects etc. With the auto increment each student would be assigned a number and this would make keeping track of the USB devices easy. Since many schools have photo copy limits for the teachers this would help save that budget. This could also be used for assignments, tests, projects etc.
Direct mass marketing companies / Promotional:
Many mass marketing campaigns involve distributing CDs with employer information on them (remember AOL CDs that used to come in the mail all the time). Information might include PDFs, product demonstrations, software installations, etc. The problem with CDs is that for the most part, once recorded on, they cannot be easily re-used. So many consumers receive these free CDs and throw them out. With the USB FAD marketers could deploy their information onto USB devices instead of to CDs. When the consumer receives the USB device, they will know that they can reuse it. So it is like a gift. The USB device is likely to be better received than a CD and people are more likely to look at the contents of the USB device than a CD.
Event planners / Coordinators:
Event planners / coordinators often have gift bags to give out to their guests. Depending on the event there might be information from their sponsors, photos from the event itself, transcripts etc. Instead of handing out flyers and pamphlets the planner can hand out USB memory devices. They can deploy sponsor information, event information or even pictures from the event onto the USB device.TDA does not sell the USB devices or customize the outside of them, but the USB FAD by TDA can be used to deploy the files to USB devices 16 at a time.
Newspapers / Journals / Magazines:
Many newspapers, journals and magazine are being shown electronically, and there is being less and less paper items being generated. With the USB FAD, these materials can be distributed in electronic format instead of on paper.
Now a days, the happy couple is finding new and interesting ways to thank their guests for taking part in their special day. Many couples are creating CDs with pictures from their wedding on them to give out as party favors. USB keys can be customized on the outside (ex: with the wedding date and bride and groom’s names) as well as on the inside (with the pictures). Ordering and customizing the USB memory devices would be done by a 3rd party, but the USB FAD can add information onto the USB devices. Wedding planners would save time by deploying the pictures to the USB memory devices 16 at a time as opposed to 1 at a time.
Music companies / Bands:
New technology brings new ways to get your music out there. Many bands are starting to release their music on USB memory devices instead of on CDs. For a new band starting out, it may be cheaper to hand out free USB devices than free CDs to get your music heard. They can customize the key and add photos of the band, concert dates etc. Not just new bands benefit from this, even mainstream bands are beginning to release their music on USB devices. Record companies who have to put out many albums from different artists can benefit from the USB FAD. TDA does not sell the USB devices or customize the outside of them, but the USB FAD by TDA can be used to deploy the files to USB devices 16 at a time. This saves time and money.
School, event photographers can pass out memory sticks with the pictures versus CD-Rom and DVDs.
Groups / Institutions with the need to format large quantities of USB devices.
